Before appointing someone
An LAIC is more than a mailing contact
The City describes the Local Agent in Charge as a qualifying adult who accepts authority and responsibility for maintaining and managing the rental property when the owner is not local.
Discuss responsibility first
The person must knowingly accept the role. Ask about service scope, response expectations, authority, fees, and how property issues will be handled.
Complete the City affidavit
The owner and LAIC sign the current affidavit, have it notarized, and upload it to the rental-registration record.
